I'm not fussy, I'm just Pesci

By my final year of uni I had officially had enough; with the stress from exams loading up I had grown tired of doctors prescribing steroid creams with ambiguous side effects, I decided that it was time I worked from the inside out and researched the best diet to heal my skin.

So while I'd love to confess that I gave up meat to combat animal cruelty, deforestation caused by the need for more space to house livestock or some other nobel ethical reason. Unfortunately my initial reason for adopting a pescetarian (also called pesco-vegetarian diet) was what some would consider to be pretty shallow - purely for aesthetic reasons.

I have been a victim of eczema from birth - yes victim because it is a seriously irritating dry skin condition which like a bad smell continues to come back with a vengeance - until I changed my diet.

If you have ever googled an ailment of any kind you'll be familiar with the tendency for online articles to suggest that you should start saying goodbye to your loved ones as your days are numbered. To a similiar extent when I began researching triggers for eczema and began to delve deeper into meat in particular i saw enough to put me off for life. Proud to say I have been meat free for 3 years now and I do not see myself turning back.
It is unknown to many that much of the meat we eat contains synthetic growth hormones and other harmful chemicals. Not to mention considerable amounts of saturated fat.

Fish, much like meat is acid producing as well as a good source of valuable nutrients, especially oily fish. Contrary to beef, pork and chicken, fish is also a good source for strengthening bones with its high content of essential fatty acids, calcium and vitamin D. Essential fatty acids in particular are important nutrients for the health of your skin. I do get questions about how I manage to only eat fish, how and what I eat when I am out and about, whether I have seen any benefits health wise. The answer is: it's easy, it's easy and yes.

Not eating meat is easy.
Over time your body gets used to it. Your cravings, which are unnatural might I add, for mammal and poultry meat disappear. After a certain amount of time even attempting to eat beef, pork or chicken will shock your body causing internal disease. This can be attributed to the toxins, uric acid and fecal bacteria found in animal flesh.

Only eating Fish forces you to improve your diet.
I'd be an absolute liar if I told you finding food on the move was easy. Big Macs, KFC meal deals and Burger King whoopers quickly become a thing of the past and in the early days you'll find yourself preferring to 'wait until you get home' than undertaking the hunt for seafood.

Fortunately vegan, vegetarian and fish options are on the rise so options are available but far and few between on the fast food scene (poet and I didn't even know it).

Health benefits of eating fish are endless
Fish contains Essential Vitamins and Minerals from B complex vitamins. Fish are rich in essential minerals like calcium, potassium, iron, zinc, phosphorous and selenium perfect for a balanced diet.

Fish also comes in a wide array of tastes and textures. Not to mention the various ways it can be cooked from my beloved fried fish on Good Friday to my oven baked salmon or pan seared cod, there is literally so much variety. And for those who are into Sushi (not me) the selection is never ending.

Personally I have found myself to be considerably less tired after I eat meals compared to when I ate meat. I can also attribute this to the weight of meat, retrospectively I conclude that it took my body a while to break down meats. And finally one for the ladies, it unintentionally caused me drop weight and stay in shape really easily.
For those who know me personally I am literally "Obsessed" with natural hair and beauty. My eczema has dramatically improved. I do get a break out every now and then but no way near the extent to which I used to. As far as hair and nails, they are both stronger and longer (this also has a lot to do with my beauty regimen).

Things to bear in my mind:

It's advised that those following a primarily seafood diet should be mindful of mercury levels in the food they consume.  Choose fish low in mercury such as canned light tuna, cod, clams, salmon and catfish.

To conclude, it's the bomb.com! Give it a go for a week or two and let me know how you find it.
