Ask Me Again in 10 Years

Yauatcha
(You probably know the address by now)
So we are back again!

With food produce changing, the authenticity of ingredients evolving and methods of dining revolving left right and centre, it is an incredible achievement for any business to stay relevant, current and of a high quality in this day and age. Yauatcha proudly celebrated their 10 year anniversary recently and they were gracious enough to invite the extended WOM family to the party!

Our PR and Marketing Manager, Rebekah joined us on this adventure and having been to Yauatcha on our first visit, attending again was absolutely no trouble.

Introductory Dim Sum
Chef Tongs (and our)
favourite
We were invited specifically to try items from the Yauatcha Secret Menu which are up for YOU to try a variety of items this entire month.  After starting things off with some favourites including a Scallop dish, Chef Tong’s favourite and a bottle of wine, we were presented with the Dim Sum Platter from the secret menu;

Spicy Lamb and Fig Dumpling
Secret menu items
Left - right:
Wild Fungus and Pomegranate
Lychee Scallop
Spice Lamb and Fig Dumpling
This item was an acquired taste; thick in texture and was a little difficult to digest at first. This aside, with a small helping of pepper sauce everything changed. The sauce bought attention to the spices in the lamb which Rebekah enjoyed.

Wild Fungus and Pomegranate
A huge fan of Mushroom and Pomegranate separately, Candace was a little taken aback by this combination. Familiar with how tart pomegranate can be, she was very unsure whether she would like this one. Assumptions aside, the mushroom was moist and the pomegranate naturally gave a contrasting crunch. Not a favourite but definitely worth the try.

Lychee Scallop
Jamelia was intrigued by the array of emotions her pallet experienced whilst sampling this item. The sweet, savoury, magical and incredibly light secret item was like nothing she’d ever tasted before. Definitely one that should not be kept a secret much longer! Any chance of this being added to the main menu?

Overall Experience
It is clear that Yauatcha are always keen to push the boundaries in Dim Sum cooking. The assortment of ingredients, unassuming combinations and consistent favourites are just some elements that will keep us coming back.

This week, our new friend and  “Chilli Sauce” theorist Graham Hornigold puts his skills to work and offers diners a taste at what’s new in the dessert department and if our Cake Date is anything to go by, you won’t want to miss it!
