Located in cobbled back streets of The City, Mint Leaf Lounge takes a contemporary approach to quintessential Indian dining. The ambience is warm and invites diners to enjoy an authentic eating experience.
Jackie O
Although it was initially quite difficult to find, after having walked 20 minutes in circles, we realised it was in fact 7 minutes walk from Liverpool Street station (embarrassing). As we eventually entered through the glass double doors, we were greeted politely and seated promptly.

The dim lighting created a very relaxed atmosphere but this was contradicted by the loud noise throughout the restaurant. This busy Tuesday night (yes Tuesday) combined the conversations of diners and background music making it difficult to talk without feeling like we were shouting. After waiting about 10 minutes, our waiter came over to take our orders. His knowledgeable approach to Indian food and the menu helped us choose dishes that would best fit our pallets.

Drinks
For drinks, we had cocktails; why not? An early week treat.
Candace ordered a Raspberry Pom and Jamelia, Summer Fruit Fizz. We didn’t enjoy the combination of flavours in the Summer Fruit Fizz so after telling the waiter, he introduced us to the manager who offered another choice of cocktail free of charge. We chose Jackie O and what a great choice it was. This rich fizzy cocktail married well with our upcoming food choices.
Grilled Lamb Chops

Starters
Tiger Prawns
The food didn’t take long to arrive and when it did, it was steaming hot (just how we like our holidays!). For starters, Candace ordered Grilled Lamb Chops which were extremely tender and flavoursome and Jamelia had Tiger Prawns

Mains
The portions are adequate, leaving space for the main course. Fish Fiends are us, Candace ordered a Baked King Prawn dish and Jamelia, a Coconut and Ginger Seafood Broth. Candace’s dish encompassed an array of amazing flavours. The prawns were big and well marinated, and just enough to order the same course next time. Jamelia’s broth? Fantastic! Perfect quantity, presentation and consistency. Not a massive fan of calamari but other than that, the meal was just right.

Baked King Prawns

These mains were accompanied by 2 Peshwari naans each. Now, the waiter was stunned that we ordered 2 each and explained that 2 naans between were enough; Aint nobody got time for that and thank goodness we ordered 2 each, they were exceptional! So fluffy, like none we’d ever tasted and we've definitely sampled our fair share; just delicious!

We looked at our watches and realised that it was Tuesday and not Friday, asked for the bill and headed home (discussing the Naan bread all the way). Honestly, if you have not tried Peshwari Naan before, make it your New Years Resolution!
Peshwari Naan

Mint Leaf Lounge hosts a great dining experience for after work drinks and dinner, corporate events and would be ideal for an intimate special occasion. The restaurant was busy and welcomed an older more mature crowd. While the bill was pretty expensive, the food was an excellent standard, and definitely somewhere we will be returning. Wanna join us?
