Thank you 2014; Hey There 2015!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

2014 was an insighful and eye opening year for us. The opening chapters of WordOfMouthLDN have taken us on a world tour without the jet lag, exploring the capital in search of the best restaurants and dining experiences for people just like us (you!).

Before kick starting a new year, it's always worth reflecting on what was lost, learned and loved from the previous year in order to mature, make wiser decisions and enjoy the coming journey.  This being said, we think it's only right to highlight our Spits and Chews from the 2014 chapter of the WordOfMouthLDN story..

SPITS

"Something Sketchy" - Sketch

A restaurant that focusses more on quality from the outside in. Enthusiastic decor and in a prime location but food wise, it was shameful. If you are looking for somewhere to go for drinks after work, it's ideal however, please, please, please don't eat!

"Flavours and Fun" - Coco Bamboo

Quantity over quality encapsulates this eatery. With a Brazilian infused Caribbean menu or Caribbean infused Brazilian menu, neither cuisine was authentic enough. They have however moved location and altered the menu, but have things got better?

"The Bare Necessities" - Gym Kitchen

Eating clean is definitely the move this year however a 'clean' ethos should be represented throughout the menu and restaurant itself. A canteen style dining arrangement isn't quite fitting and is very off putting..

CHEWS

"Dim Sum and Then Some" - Yauatcha

What a great discovery this was! Not fans of Chinese/Vietnamese food at all but Yauatcha definitely gave us authenticity and creativity to the max. The Cake Date was life changing in more ways the one, with friendly staff and organic decor and dining style, returning is a no brainer.

"Stop Forrest, Stop" - Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

Seafood Lovers unite! The TGI Fridays for pescitarians has finally hit the London streets. The Forrest Gump theme runs throughout the 2 storey restaurant with a gift shop on the ground floor. Portion size, menu size and restaurant size all fit the bill. Treat yourself this weekend!

"Yes Darling, it's all about ME" - ME London

A classic british experience in a chic, unassuming and varied venue. Located just opposite Somerset House, ME London hosts the most beautiful and delicious area for afternoon tea to perfection. The head chef outdoes herself time after time and is a prime example of how creativity in food makes for an unforgettable experience.

"I Got 5 On It" - Zumbura

Taking a trip south of the river always seems like such an ordeal but this restaurant was most definitely worth the journey. This cute cafe style restaurant draws attention to traditional Asian cuisine with a modern day twist and tapas dining style. Rustic and uncomplicated in it's decor, Zumburu is an overall foodie favourite in the history of our dining experiences.

Upon reflection, our discoveries have often surprised us and forced us to be more open to less conventional recipes. This year, we encourage you to come on board and do the same.

Our next dining experience however, takes us back to our Caribbean roots, but how will it compare to Rhythm Kitchen?
