Festival season is well and truly upon us and with all the great acts performing across the country, our favourite headliner is without a doubt, always ‘FOOD’.

In continuation from last weeks post, this month’s #nationalburgermonth post comes from dining at Joe Allen. This underground hideaway is located in between some of London’s most infamous theatres and is well known for pre or post theatre dinner. With just a small sign poking out from the brickwork, Joe Allen ushers its diners into a 1950’s theatrical eatery, with pictures of well known actors, actresses and stage characters.

So for the next 3 weeks, it’s burgers only on the menu in aid of #Nationalburgermonth and what better way to get things started than to head to one of the worlds most picturesque paradises, Hawaii.

Now that Jamelia's in NYC, my foodie dates have become awfully lonely but a good meal in and of itself is always great company (no shade Jam). This week however, I headed to a spot in one of London’s most thriving and diverse situations, Soho. Soho Kitchen and Bar, located along the iconic Old Compton Street, this Soho House owned buzzing restaurant is an ideal spot for after work. Tonight’s date alongside dinner, is mi Madre.

To conclude our day of natural hair antics at ‘Women in The Jungle’, we made our way into Soho to a recommended Oriental Restaurant- Yauatcha. 

Yauatcha, is a contemporary dim sum teahouse located in the heart of London.

A sweet ending to a meal is most certainly something we always look forward to but after we realised that life is short, we started having dessert first!

As you may be able to tell, WordOfMouthLDN are unashamed and self proclaimed dessert fanatics. Sometimes we feel that dessert is just enough, and on this occasion, it was exactly that. This week, we took a trip to Potty Pancakes, a specialist dessert restaurant in the quiet residencies of Barnet.

Located above the infamous Boxpark in Shoreditch, the options at this restaurant were plentiful; from the option to dine inside or outside (if the sun ever really decides to come out), to have your fish pan fried, grilled, deep fried, or baked. What's life without choices?

Greeted and seated immediately, Simply Fish is a small enclosed roof top restaurant has a fresh, sea breeze feel, with light décor and soft lighting resembling almost a beach hut. A great contrast from last weeks trip to ChickenShop . Similarly though, Simply Fish has an open kitchen to which we sat next to.

Not the usual stop off for WordOfMouthLDN, but a certainly a pleasant surprise.

The name immediately rang alarm bells for Jamelia who is a committed pescatarian, but it was the persistence of a close friend of ours that drew us to this discrete spot on Highgate Road for a cheeky dessert before making our way to a show at The Forum. Jamelia ordered the Apple Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream, whilst Candace opted for the Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream - as you may have noticed lent hasn't gone exactly to plan for us!
