For this weeks pick, we decided to visit another continent and take on Rhythm Kitchen.
Hidden at the back of the Food Court at Stratford Westfield, we often
bypass it this place, dubious of the food served. Caribbean food has many
variations based on where in the Caribbean the food is cooked however; us
Island girls thought we’d go for a bite anyway. As we approached Rhythm Kitchen and
looked at the menu, it was full of tasty options, great meal deals and
Caribbean favourites. Not that we are particularly fussy eaters but one of our
hesitation reasons lie in rice and peas. This classic, for us, can be ruined by long grain rice instead of basmati.
Drinks
For drinks, Candace had Fruit Punch and Jamelia chose the Mango and Carrot
Tropical Rhythms Juice.

Now, anyone that’s been to a Caribbean restaurant surely knows apart from flavoursome food options at the till, you also get a full glass of attitude. We were slightly startled at the customer service at Rhythm Kitchen, the waitress was polite. Here the service really was a refreshing representation of the relaxed fun loving Caribbean culture.
Mains
Candace and Jamelia skipped starters this time and headed straight for
the main (the hunger was real). Jamelia ordered the red snapper with a
side of fried plantain, rice and peas, and of course could not resist the
Macaroni cheese. Candace ordered Lamb Roti with Macaroni cheese as well.
Jamelias red snapper meal was spot on. Although Jamelia enjoys the
additional kick spicy food gives a meal, the 'level of spice' was spot on for
the target audience. Based in a popular shopping centre, it was the right blend
of flavour and spice to cater to any pallet. The macaroni cheese was
exceptionally generous in its portion, with a beautifully creamy texture, this
would have ruined our whole vibe as mac ‘n’ cheese is a WOMLDN favourite.
The rice and peas was also generous in size, and the taste, again was well suited to the wide variety of cultures who may dine there. With an additional small bowl of gravy, each element of the meal complimented not only eachother but also the hunger Jamelia was feeling!

Candace’s roti was substantial in size however a little bland in taste.
Being used to home cooked roti, packed full of spice both in the meat and the
Roti dough itself, Candace was a little disappointed at the minimal acrobats in
her taste buds. This aside, the
essence of a roti was captured confidently and the mac n cheese went down
a treat!
All in all, Rhythm Kitchen is definitely somewhere we would chews again and is ideal after some retail therapy. We would not however suggest Rhythm Kitchen before
going to the cinema...the film will be watching you!
