Greedy Cow 2 Grove Road London, E3 5AX |
Greedy Cow is a compact pub/bistro style restaurant with a casual feel, discretely tucked away by Mile End station.
We were immediately seated and tended to by the waiting staff who handed us reasonably varied menus. As per usual we we dove straight in, with two starters: Fish Cakes and Spicy Chicken Wings.
The chicken wings had a very
subtle buffalo taste, much like Marmite - you either love it or hate it… Candace loved it!

Eating in a group
really brings to light how unique individual taste pallets are; especially on
this occasion, as everyone ordered completely different meals.

Indian Burger |
Jamelia opted for the Salmon Fillet served with a spicy lime and soy dressing with Thai fragrant rice.
Although torn at first, Candace opted for the 'Indian Burger' and ordered potato wedges as a side. When the burger arrived, Candace realised she had forgotten to ask for the burger with no mayo, especially as it already had raita in it(a yoghurt style dip/sauce traditionally seasoned with mint, coriander and cumin). The waiter was extremely accommodating and took her burger back without any issue.
Pesci main course options were slim but Jamelia's Salmon fillet choice was by no means disappointed. The Salmon was crispy, pan fried to perfection with a range of Asiatic flavours, with complimentary Thai fragrant rice. Beautifully presented and more than enough to quench her hunger and lust for potent flavours.

The Indian burger was HUGE which ticked the satisfaction box. Indian spices really excite
Candace’s taste buds and once paired with her new friend, mango chutney, this dish not only changed her life but also helped her overcome her resistance to burgers. The fusion of flavours really elevated her perception of a meaty burger, and with lamb
being one of her favourite proteins, this was an all round good decision.
Now… our friends at Curlture ordered Onion Rings which they kindly shared. Initially Candace
was an advocate for and strongly stood by the fact that GBK do the best onion
rings; the scoring has now changed. These onion rings were to die for!

Onion Rings |
Stuffed and once again, slightly pushed
for time (we are making a habit of this, hopefully our summer bodies thank us!) we left dessert.
Mile End is a pretty desolate when it comes to dining, but Greedy Cow really is its saving grace. Accommodating enough for diners who do or don’t fancy a burger it is certainly someone we are looking forward to returning to. Please Please Please add a fish burger to the menu though!
Price: £18/£23 pp
